I hope this is the right forum to post this.

Basically, I have a dell inspiron 1520 (I can post specifications if I need too) and I wish to upgrade some things (e.g. processor and RAM)

How can I tell if the item's are compatible with my laptop?

Finally, if I have an intergrated graphics card, can I replace it?

Hi Fish,

You may be able to upgrade your CPU as it is removable, same goes for your video chipset.

But.....I guess it would cost more for the parts than it would to buy another laptop.

Laptops are notoriously difficult to upgrade, getting hold of the components, the correct components and actually getting them to work - it ain't worth hassle and the risk.

Memory - yes that will be upgradeable. Post your Dell Service Tag, the amount of memory you have and what you want to upgrade to and we'll have a look.

As soon as you mention DELL and then upgrade, you are very limited.

Most laptops now as Tootech has said are not upgradeable, beyond basic parts

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500

260GTX
