Just so that we can get as much information as possible, close all programs running and log onto the internet using your normal browser. If the music starts again, press Ctrl. Alt and Del at the same time to bring up your task manager. The applications tab should be open, what tasks are listed as running?

It does seem strange to have music on in the background - do you open media player at all?

I am thinking that one of the demo songs is playing automatically somehow, although I have never heard of this before.

Can you check that media player is closed.

Is it at all possible that this is linked in some way to whatever you may use as a home page? Have you tried going directly to another site (say FPCH) directly through bookmarks or favorites and avoiding your home page?

what browser are you using?

What type of tune is it? A regular song... or just a little melody?

This is just a stab in the dark at what is clearly a strange occurrence, but do you have your "pop up blocker" enabled? If not enable it and see if that stops the music.

You will find the "pop up blocker" under Tools in Internet Explorer. If it is enabled then open pop up blocker settings and see if there are any exceptions. Note what they are and remove them. Has it stopped now?

Also, help4me has pointed out the reason for her question and it makes good sense. I have enabled a little click sound when I navigate. Please look in your sound settings in control panel and see if you have any events that carry sounds for your browser. If you do make sure it is not the music that you are hearing. Sound events can be set to anything that is already on your computer.

hi the pop up blocker is on, and today i am on the lap top so i think its got to be linked to the browser or internet set up

Did you check the blocker for exceptions?

I assume you are telling us about the laptop because it is not happening on the laptop?

Did you check for sound events related to the browser on the machine in question?

If it only happens to one user on one machine you can probably rule out internet settings but not browser setting.

Exactly what security measure protect the machine and what scans have you done?
