Upgrade Windows 2003 SP1 to R2

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I wish to install R2. My understanding is that I can do this directly from

CD2?

We have 4 DC's spanning across 3 sites with Exchange and SQL. Do I just need

to upgrade the Schema for our domain once, then run R2 installation from CD2

on all servers or just the one?

If anyone know any good articles that be great as I am finding it hard to

locate some articles for upgrade Windows 2003 SP1 DC's to RC2.

Cheers,

Mark

R 2 is a feature upgrade. Run adprep from disk 2 of the R2 set, on the

schema master for your domain, with an account in the schema admin group.

Then run setup 2 from the second disk to install the features you want to

use on all the servers you want to use the new R2 features on.

Hello mark,

You only have to upgrade the schema if the DC's should be R2, if it should

only be a member server no need for this.
