Guest Devonshire Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Recently I shut down my server 2003 and the 4 clients when I went away for the Thanksgiving holiday. I fired everything back up last night and discovered a few problems: 1. There are 2 DNS error messages in the Server 2003 DNS Event Log: The DNS server was unable to open zone _msdcs.G-4.local in the Active Directory from the application directory partition ForestDnsZones.G-4.local. This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. The IE7 x32 browser can't see the internet C. Outlook 2007 can's see the internet or anything else that is x32 bit. My Vista x64 workstation is less than functional with this condition.... 3. The 3 other XP Pro based clients on the domain and the Server 2003 can all browse the internet, so we can rule out the ISP as an issue. 4. I have not installed Server 2003, SP2. 5. I have an XP Pro based Laptop that when I first logged into the domain, it lost my user profile. I believe the server was set to have roaming profiles. Now after rebooting the server 2003 roaming profiles are turned off. Suggestion and assistance would be greatly appreciated! Since my email is down, please respond to linda@g-4.com (my wife's email).
