system files over written

how can i check if system files of a server 2003 SP2 is over-written?

I tried to reinstall SP2 and it tells me that my system files are

over-written but it does not continue installation saying that the RPC server

is not starting.

 

Any ideas please?

I'd check the event log for more details.
