Plastic Nev Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Hi Layler, did your camera come with any disks? there is usually software bundled that will do that job for you if installed. Can you tell us the make and model of your camera in case we need to look it up. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. mike Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hey, As Nev said above, your camera should have come with some software to help you with these tasks. However if not, you could always resort to Nero... From my understanding when your camera records on to the Mini DVD's they are already in DVD format so you should be able to use any CD/DVD Burning software to copy the disc onto a normal DVD disc. Again, with Nero you can also wipe rewritable CD/DVD's. A link to a free trail of Nero can be found here: Nero - Trial Version Hope this helps, Mike Quote Need computer support? mike Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi, You can use the free trail version, this will be fine for 30 days. Are you just wanting to copy the files to the PC, to then put them on a DVD disc? If this is the case you can just do a disc copy using Nero, and there will be no need to copy them to your PC, you will just need a blank DVD disc. If you are wanting to manipulate the files or simply save them as a backup on your PC then you could try to "rip" the mini DVD. You could try a free DVD ripper located here: Download Free DVD Ripper - Freeware Download List which will convert the mini DVD files into a more easy accessible file such as MPEG or AVI. Dalo Harkin Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 When you say 'mini dvds' do you literally mean the ones that are smaller than standard DVDs or do you mean the file size of whats on them? Most DVD drives have an extra groove in the CD tray to take the smaller DVD's, you can then just access the disk via My Computer and copy and paste the images and then delete them off the disk, normally you cant cut and paste as the disk may prevent you from doing so as to prevent accidental loss of info Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
layler Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 hi yeah i literally want to put the mini dvd into my pc which i know how that works and then somehow transfer the recording so i can put it onto a blank dvd to keep. this way i can then reuse my mini dvd again. thanks layler Quote
Match Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hi layler As Mike says I would have thought that Nero would do that for you, as it's a free trial version nothing ventured nothing gained, The only problem I could foresee would be if your camcorder uses some sort of unique file system. but I very much doubt that as it would'nt help their sales much. :) P.S. Dalo Harkin Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 You should be able to access the DVD through exploring the disk in my computer - its rewritable so there should be no problems, cutting and pasting the files off it. Plastic Nev Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 And now for something completely different, you say you have a program that came with the camera and you installed it, first do you have a firewire (IEEE 1394) port on both camera and computer? if not there should at least be a USB port in both cases. You should be able to connect to your computer via a cable and then use the program to download the files from the camera with the mini DVD still in it. At that stage the program can be used to edit, in some programs they can then burn to DVD, but if not, you can then save to wherever you choose. You can then burn to DVD from there with the right software, such as Nero. If you can tell us the name of the program that came with the camera, and also whether you have the firewire (IEEE 1394) ports, if so transfer is better. Quote Need help with your computer problems?
