aka Thumb drive?

I found a 1Gb thumb drive in a box of cables I bought

at auction, the cover is missing and the innards

are exposed, but it works a treat on my XP's.

I'd like to install it on my W98se

I chased up the driver (LGflash.zip)

now what do I do?

here is the contents of the zip

Here's what I would do:

Open your unzipping program (ZipCentral) and open the zip file as shown in your

screenshot.

Choose to extract ALL the files to a folder such as C:\Download\LGFlash.

MAKE SURE you select the option to "Use folder names"...the option will probably be

a checkbox in the extract dialog box where you choose the folder to extract to.

That option will allow the extraction to include all the sub-folders as they are set

up in the .zip file.

After extracting, there will be a number of sub-folders in the C:\Download\LGFlash

folder.

Close ZipCentral and ALL other programs and windows, and disable your anti-virus.

Go to the C:\Download\LGFlash\98Driver folder.

It looks like you should double-click the 98Install.bat file to install the driver

for Win98.

(You can open the .bat file with Notepad first, and read exactly what it is going to

do).

After that, the drvsetup.exe program may be the one that is used to install the

extra on the flash drive....the password manager that allows you to password-protect

the drive, and the utility to make it a bootable drive, for example.

This looks like the manual for a very similar drive, if not the same drive:

Gee willakers Glen, thanks.

thanks for an extended roadmap :)

I just tried Alan Edwards generic,

we got halfway there, when I rebooted

the computer recognised the USB device,

I plugged in the thumb drive, and it went looking for

the software driver, but failed.

In devices my USB (AND my epson printer have a big yellow "?")

I'm printing out your advice and will give it a kick in the guts

as we speak.

With regards

G'day Glen,

I'm not sure what I did, but have it working.

I removed the (<all> usb devices in device manager)

installed Alan Edwards generic.

At first could not get in at all.

"G drive not recognised"

I tried installing from the LGflash folder

and got the message shown below.

I had a hunch it was password protected perhaps

so I just reformatted the drive.

It is now a storage device :)

Not sure what driver is doing the work,

but will disregard the password and manager

options, just use it as a "transport stick" for data.

Thanks very much for your attention to my problem

your time, your knowledge and your typing.

A merry Xmas to you and your family.

Rodney
