Error with printmig 3.1 from W2K Cluster to 2K3 Cluster

Hello,

I'm looking for some help please ;)

I'm actually migrating a W2K clustered print server to a 2003 clustered

print server.

I followed the white paper on how to create the 2003 print server cluster

and all is working as intended.

Now i'm trying to use printmig 3.1 to backup printer informations from the

old cluster and restore them on the new one.

So from one of the node of the old cluster, I use printmig, I change target

to connect the cluster and then backup. AFAIK the backup looks ok.

After, from one of the node of the new cluster, I use printmig, I change

target to connect the cluster and then I try to restore but I get

systematicaly this error :

FAILURE: Can't restore to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Printmig

Printmig end soon after this error without restoring.

I changed the maxRPCSize key to 0xFFFFFFFF, verified that remote registry

service is running, changed permissions on HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Printmig

so that everyone has full control. That on both node of the new cluster.

Am I wrong somewhere ?

Thanks by advance for your help

Regards

Mathieu

RE: Error with printmig 3.1 from W2K Cluster to 2K3 Cluster

Hello again,

I finally made it !

The problem seems to be related to the backup, wich is done remotely because

the source server is a cluster. The path stored in the cab file looks like

Servername\admin$\system32\spool\... So when the backup is restored on

another server, it keeps the "Servername\admin$" part and this cause the

"FAILURE: Can't restore to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Printmig" simply because

the program doens't find the files (the path stored in the cab file of normal

servers is C\windows\system32\spool\...).

So i just had to extract the cab, modifiy the path then recreate a new cab

and it worked.

I hope this could help.

Regards.
