I've just had my pc fixed as it wasnt booting into windows atall. I took it to a pc repair company and they found the problem and repaired it. Apparently it was my sound card that caused minutes or so it starts to slow down becoming nea5 minutes or so it starts to slow down becoming nearminutes or so it starts to slow down becoming nearly impossible to do anything that needs abit more cpu. I have a new motherboard "Asus p5vd2-vm se". It seemed to work fine when i got it back but then 3 days later this started. Please i need help as colege work needs to be done :( thanks alot to anyone who can help me!

Hey tonezpro,

Please can you explain again, more clearly what your problem is, and what you've had done to your PC in the past, as I cannot make out any information out of your first post.

Perhaps the teachers in your "colege" can understand that but I certainly cannot.

What exactly is happening right now?

Sorry about that my pc slowed down as i was typing!

Right My PC wouldnt boot up into windows so i took it to a place called "computer assistance" they then said my harddrive was corrupt so i bought a new one from them and they put it in. This is a 500gb harddrive. I then got home to find my pc not working so i bought it back and another problem had occurred. It would not boot into windows again so i took it back under warranty. He said my soundcard had damaged my motherboard somehow and that he would put a motherboard in free for no charge because it had already been in once. So he put an "Asus p5vd2-vm se" into my machine and took the soundcard out. I got home and it worked fine after all that. Now, 3 days later my machine begins to slow down after about 15 minutes, that isnt a precise timing. It usually slows down when im using programs that require more cpu. Then it will slow down and not speed up again if that makes sense. So i restart and go again... When i boot up again it seems to start working fine and then bamm! it starts lagging again!

Sorry about the first post i should've checked before i posted,

Thanks again.

Yes but the latest has restored my faith in the education system.:)

My concern is that you have had so many changes made to this machine that it is hard to pinpoint where the problem may lie. Can you give us an idea of what programs seem to have the greatest effect on speed?

It may be that you will have to take it back once again as the shop may have a greater grasp on what they have done. Hopefully they are reputable as it does seem that the more that is changed the worse it seem to get.

Umm it can be anything that triggers it really. I mean i've run a defragment and a harddrive scan and its abit better now. I've had it on for about an hour and it hasnt started to lag yet. Just got to try some programs out first. Its mainly ones like my music programs "fl studio 8" and say photoshop but it can occur from just having too many windows open in firefox.

Also dont keep using a defrag as that wont solve the issue, but make it worse - defraggs stress your HDD

So let me get this right - the 'company' you took it to said your HDD was corrupt, so you bought a new one - took it back after the SAME issue started happening and they said it was the Soundcard that took the MOBO out - so you bought a new one and they fitted it.

Did you or they reinstall the OS after the MOBO went in as they should have and if they DIDNT - dont ever go there again!

I originally had 1gb of memory when bought and i stuck a 512mb in beside it so now i have 1.5gb. Was thinking of running two 1gbs beside each other what you think?

No the first problem was similar to the second problem but not the same. And yeah they did reinstall my os again :)

There are so many different things going on here - did you make sure the RAM installed is all the same speed?
