sp2 installation fails

On one of the server SP2 installation failed with an error "Internal error

occurred".

 

Need you help urgently.

RE: sp2 installation fails

 

This often happens if you are using the windows update routine and allowing

windows update to do the sp2 installation.

 

Try the following steps.

 

Go to the MS update site and download the network version saved to a folder

on the root drive.

 

Click the donot install update for the automated sp2 download.

 

Burn the sp2 to disk.

 

Disable all AV , Spyware etc and take the machine off the network ( esp

domain controller ) . Yep all services are down but SP2 has updates for AD

 

Run ASR backup ... oh yes run this.

 

Then run the SP2 Disk... Hope this helps.
