Guest WetBehindEars Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Guys, I have a user here who has a Vista desktop that needs to be joined to the domain. The domain here uses roaming profiles, so my question to you is what implications will we have by using a vista machine on a 2003 network with roaming profiles?
Guest Iain Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 RE: Vista and roaming profiles?? Hi, Just seen your post. I have added 2 Windows Vista business machines to a Windows 2003 server R2 and Enterprise domains with windows XP SP2 machines installed with no problems and all roaming profiles and security policies have correctly applied. The only only problem I have seen is Office 2007 documents cannot be opend by Office XP. I have installed 1 vista business on an exisiting SBS revision1 site with an awful lot of mess .. SBS R2 with service pack1 No problems. -- Iain "WetBehindEars" wrote: > Guys, > > I have a user here who has a Vista desktop that needs to be joined to the > domain. Guest Iain Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 RE: Vista and roaming profiles?? Just a thought, Service Pack 2 is now out for SBSr1 which does address several Vista problems ... since that is all Vista is .. a problem realy. Use the SBS connectcomputer routine, make a new computer in users and computers first, add the user to the administrator group of the local account donot rollout any of the server standard updates apart from outlook and then connect computer. If all succesful remove the user from the administrator group and put in power user. gud luk -- Iain Marshall MCSE MCSA MCPs MCP "WetBehindEars" wrote: > Ok. Should be no problem as long as the user doesn't already have a roaming profile that was used on a W2K or WXP machine. If they do, I would strongly recommend deleting the existing roaming profile and let a new one get built... -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services
