Hi, can any1 help?

I cannot seem to offer remote assistance to users on a windows 2003

entererprise server domain.

I can can use the server management window on a small business 2003 domain I

look and interact and take control of the users session ... r but dont seem

to be able to find the same program in the enterprise version?

In help & support it only gives the option to ask for remote assistance.

Can I give and take control of a users computer and session with the

Enterprise version .. Some say I can some say I cant..

Thank you for your time.

Iain

I'm pretty sure you can do this

gpedit.msc/

computer config/

administrative templates/

system/

remote assistance/

offer remote assistance (unconfigured by default)

Thank you for your reply ...

That particular group policy allows remote assistance to that server ....

What I wish to do is remotley connect to my domain controller via Remote

desktop connection and then as in Small Business Server I run Server

Management, select the user and offer remote assistance so I can interact

with the Desktop and user.

Users cannot use their " ask for assitance " as we do not want unknown help

from outside the company from some users " mate "... so it is disabled via

group policy and blocked on the external firewall.

Again their seems to be no offer of remote assistance from the Enterprise

server.

Thank you

Okay, this is how I got it to work (not exactly the way you want but

maybe this will do?)

I created 2 OU's in active directory and moved 1 machine into each OU.

In the one OU I created a GPO that allows for offering of remote

assistance while disallowing soliciting of remote assistance (client)

I added domain admins as the "helper"

(domain admins is also listed in the administrators and remote desktop

users groups on the local machine)

On the other OU (expert) I created a GPO that allows for both

soliciting and offering of remote assitance.

I was able to offer remote assistance and take control of the client

computer (the client has to allow this) from the expert computer.

The client still cannot solicit remote assistance.

The bummer is that you have to connect to the machine by name or ip

address. I don't know if there is a way to connect to a user....

Not exactly what you were looking for but maybe a workable

alternative?
