anntodd Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 When I used to go on a favourite site my pc used to remember my login details and password but since the engineer fitted a new battery in my motherboard this is not happening I run windows vista on i.e Can you help? Regards Ann Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Welcome back Ann, Just go to tools on the top of Internet Explorer. From the drop down menu select "Internet Options." Open the middle "content" tab. About mid way you will see a "settings" button click on that. Tick " User names and passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords." that should do the trick for you. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
anntodd Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 I have been here before and the problem was in pc guard but I am now on avira and I cannot find where the privacy settings on there The settings on i.e are correct ann Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Avira is an antivirus program. Are you using the free version? The Avira Antivir does not have settings that would block these settings. Are you using a firewall and, if so, which? Also in the same tools and internet options as before, check that your security settings are set to internet (The Globe - medium to medium high.) anntodd Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 i am using the free version and everything is set as you requested Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Ok but we still need to know about your firewall? Are you using a separate third party firewall or just Windows Firewall. Also what happened to PC Guard? Is it still installed? Is it or any part of it active? Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
anntodd Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 using windows firewall and pc guard has been fully installed If I cant resolve this problem I will try a system restore tomorrow as I am watching tv now and going off line many thanks again Ann Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) You should not run two real time antivirus programs at the same time. Avira is an antivirus program as is part of PC Guard. PC Guard also has a firewall. When you run multiple antivirus they not only conflict with each other but also effect other programs that you are running. If the PC Guard firewall is running and Windows Firewall has not been disabled by it, that too can cause problems. Finally there may be settings in your firewall that is blocking the password system in IE7. Unless these conflicts and possibilities are resolved it is unlikely that you will have a restore point that will resolve this problem. RandyL Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hi anntodd? By any chance are you deleting your cookies? Deleting your cookies will remove the saved passwords no matter if you had previously saved them. So even if IE is set to save them they might be getting deleted.
