HELP!! ntbackup to ext hard drive using "daily" type cant restore

Recommended Posts

Hello,

When the server was installed a fullbackup was completed using Normal

type, since then the backup has been on a schedule for 2:00am every M-F using

the Daily backup type, which appears to be appending to the original .bkf

file (which is now 53GB) . The issue is when we look at a prior date

10/23/07 using the ntbackup restore, the folders are there but the data is

not. This is critical for us please help us understand whats going on.

Thanks,

Dan

RE: HELP!! ntbackup to ext hard drive using "daily" type cant restore

Hello Dan,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

From your post, do you mean the prior date 10/23/07 ntbackup restore folder

is empty?

If you use ntbackup and configure "Append this backup to the existing

backups" option, it will append the original backup.

Thanks & Regards,

Ken Zhao

Thanks Ken,

No , in the restore section it showed a lot of backups with dates,

however, when you go into one of them only the folders were there no data in

the folders. Can someone explain 'exactly' how the daily backup works?

Because it clearly does not function as advertised.
