HP Compaq Media Center PC.

I am trying to connect my PC to my LCD TV using a DVI-D to HDMI cable. When I plug the DVI-D connector the screen on the monitor goes blank for a couple of seconds then defaults back. This I presume means that windows is recognising the connection. The TV however just shows the HDMI icon permanently. This icon would normally disappear when a signal is received.

I have opened up Display then Settings and I have Monitor 1 large and bold and Monitor 2 greyed out. The only way I can get Monitor 2 icon lit is to click on use this monitor etc. When I click OK nothing changes.

I am having no problems with the standard monitor.

Hi, and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

Have you tried removing the monitor plug and trying the TV then? It may be your graphics cannot run two screens at once. 'Tis only a guess as I am not that well up on these issues.

Thanks for your input guys have now got it sorted by using a different HDMI port on the TV.

For information (back to the TV manual) one of the Panasonic TV HDMI ports is positioned in a different area and interlinked with S-VID and two audio inputs.

Whilst I now have video (absolutely brilliant picture over a 30 ft cable) I do not yet have audio but believe it just means trailing another cable into the audio jacks.
