Guest CLM Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I'm a total newbie. We want our operators to be able to shut down a service on a Sql Server remotely. (SS 2000, Win 2003) But that's all we want them to be able to do, i.e. we don't want them to Terminal Server into the box. Can you use Net Start and Net Stop to do this? In other words, can they run Net Stop and Net Start from their desktop to stop and restart a service on a remote machine? I've been googling for switches and can't find anything!

You could use the technique I suggested in the thread titled "How to allow a user to see the Scheduled Tasks share", posted here one week ago.
