How to unlock a flash card?

Recommended Posts

At the moment, in W2K, want to transfer files to a W98 computer. Tere has

been several threads here on flash cards.

Up to now, had no trouble (W2K) loading a flash card, unlocking it,

transferring to a W98 machine, loading and then unlocking there. In W98SE,

I used the universal W98 driver from a post by glee, it works fine.

Today, loaded 1.9GB on a Sony 2 GB flash card, got the message "disk full",

I said Cancel and checked contents, looks like everything is there.

Next I went into the Unlock sequence, usually it is maybe a 1 minute max

delay, but this time it still does not unlock in 30 minutes. Tried

rebooting, no luck.

I suppose this is related to the error message.

I searched here, don't see this issue.

How to unlock the flash card?

Yesterday, it never did unlock, even after deleting partial contents,

through reboots, and a cold boot.

I shut down at night, so this AM was a cold boot, this time it unlocked.

Flash cards should not be filled near capacity, it looks like.

Turns out it is just the characteristics of W2K and probably XP. I used

the flash card in W98SE and it unlocks immediately.
