This is a basic question.. but we had a server crash with DNS on it..

it was the first server i setup DNS services on..

There is still a secondary DNS server (i think it has a copy of the

zone info etc)..

I'm not sure on the this new server how I should set the DNS portion

up.. ie: this secondary server will go away soon..

So do i just go through the wizard as if there isnt already a DNS

setup on this secondary server?

I need to make sure that if i make this a read only secondary.. that i

can then make it writable.. as the other dns will go away.. actually..

that other dns server was setup as a read only secondary.. so i'm not

sure which is the right thing to do ere.

Thanks

edit: I need to make sure that if i make this a read only secondary..

that i can then make it writable.. as the other dns will go away..

actually.. that other dns server was setup as a read only secondary at

one point.. but looking at it.. i think its actually writabe primary..

so i'm not sure which is the right thing to do here.

You might try posting in m.p.windows.server.dns for more expert help ....and

maybe mention whether you're running AD or not.
