unconditionalhigh Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I am also having a problem with my computer. I've read the other Threads with this same problem and none have helped me. i started my computer up the other day and this was the message i got Error loading dll32 the specified module could not be found ever since then i can't connect to the interent. (I'm posting from another computer) I know my computer had some viruses, i ran a scan and found and deleated the viruses. My main problem is just the fact that i have "limited or no commectivity" to the internet Quote
RandyL Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Can you tell us what viruses you had and what program you used to get rid of them please? It sounds like you have already tried some other steps to resolve this. What have you tried so far? In case we need it can you also tell us the make, model and number of your PC and what XP disks you might have? Quote We are all members helping other members. BeeCeeBee Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 My main problem is just the fact that i have "limited or no connectivity" to the internet Is that language coming up in a warning next to the small network icon in the task bar? If so it normally refers to the the router rather than the internet although the effect remains the same. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
unconditionalhigh Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 i am aware that "limited or no conectivity" has something to do with the router. It was the first thing i tried. I reset everything and the message still occured. Quote
RandyL Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 The Error Loading dll32 is one of the things that concerns us as it is a core Windows file. It's possible that it's related to the infection and needs to be repaired or replaced. There is also the possibility that you are still infected and just don't know it or that other repairs need to be made first. To attempt to get your connection issues fixed may be futile until other things are considered first. One of our moderators is looking into this now and others will be too I'm sure. I assure you that it is being looked at. If you have anything to add by all means do so. Anything can help so let us know. Quote We are all members helping other members. King of Poop Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 funny enough I am having this problem right now on a work computer...I hope you guys find out whats up Quote
Match Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Hi unconditionalhigh sounds like your a bit low :) The Sony Vaio has a recovery Partition that you can access by pressing f10 during the boot screens More info HERE what you should be looking for is a non-destructive recovery option. Quote
Tootech Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 What security software do you use on your PC ? Also, what order did the problems occur ? Have the dll error and 'limited connectivity' appeared after you have used Spyware Doctor? Have you cleaned you system using any antivirus programs? I've a feeling that a full malware scan/clean is in order, but will wait for you info first. Quote
unconditionalhigh Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 my computer also has McAfee the problems happened at the same time. the error and the limited or no connectivity. Afterwards i ran the virus scan. i have cleaned my system with McAfee as well. Quote
Tootech Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 The best thing to do is to fully uninstall McAfee, restart your PC and then download the McAfee removal tool. It will remove the leftover services etc. You'll have to use a flash drive, or burn it to a CD to transfer it to the poorly machine. The tool is available at this link - note this is a direct download link. http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe Hopefully that will restore your internet connectivity. The next thing to do is a full malware scan, and then see what problems, if any are left. Its a fair bit of work, and considering the infections you have picked up it is important to do it at this stage. It is in your best interest to note the following: Please disable your resident security applications (such as AVG, Spybot, WinPatrol, Spyware Doctor etc.) before performing the below procedure so that they do not interfere with the process. Perform all the steps in the order listed to avoid any conflicts. If unsure, please stop and voice your doubts. You might be required to go offline during the disinfection process. Therefore, it is recommended to print off the instructions below for ease of reference. If you stick to the above guidelines, all should go smoothly. ================================================ STEP 1 Download ATF-Cleaner by Atribune. Save the file to your Desktop. Double-click on the file to run the program. On the Main tab, check the Select All button. Next, click on the Firefox tab (if applicable) and check the Select All button. [*] A notification will appear that Quarantine and Removal is Complete. Click OK and then Finish to return to the main menu. [*] Restart your computer. ================================================ STEP 4 Please visit the ESET Online Scanner, using Internet Explorer to initiate the scan. Note: If you are running Windows Vista, then you will need Administrative privileges to complete the latter part of the procedure. To do so, right-click on the Internet Explorer icon in the Start Menu and select the Run As Administrator option in the shell context menu. Check mark the YES, I accept the Terms of Use box. Click the Start button. Click the Install button on the following screen. Click Start. This will will initialize and update the scanner engine. Check mark the box beside Remove found threats. Click the Scan button. This will start the scan. Please be patient while it is in progress. Restart your computer. ================================================ STEP 5 Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and select System Restore. Choose the radio button marked Create a Restore Point on the first screen and click Next. Give the restore point a name then click Create. The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a note of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore. Next, click on Start > Run, type Cleanmgr and click on OK. Click on the More Options tab. Click the Clean Up button in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the most recent one. This will remove any infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in "System Restore" are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only foolproof way to ensure the deletion of those files. Note: Please don't use it on a regular basis as this will clear all previous restore points. The feature might be very useful to revert your computer to working condition if something goes wrong. Close browsers before scanning Scan for tracking cookies Terminate memory threats before quarantining Quote

Tootech Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Glad one of the problems is sorted out now. Do you still have Spyware Doctor installed? If so, can you uninstall it for now, and reboot. Can you then do an 'ipconfig' and post the info here. To do that click Start, then Run, then type cmd /c ipconfig /all >Desktop\Ipconfig.txt Press Enter There should be a file appears on your desktop called Ipconfig.txt, post its contents here. That will show us if your system picks up a network address on either adapter. Quote
