windows 10 windows update problem

So recently windows prompted me to download it's latest version ( this is probably the creator's update ) and while working on the updates , my computer shutted down by itself and now its on the "restoring previous version of windows " or something loop. I heard from other sites that yoy would require a fresh windows 10 copy. But that would require a reformat , how do I move on without having to delete my files?
