help constant beeping

hi a bit of a novice here had to shut down my big computer using the daughters laptop. my problem srarted yesterday, constant beeping from the computer.it is an older one all i knoe that its wnidows xp pro. it has a athlon processer.not a lot to go on i know. woud like to learn more.any help idiot proof of course, would be great,thanks:)

Lets start with the basics Chrissie, what kind of beeping and when does it first start?

 

You really need to be a bit more specific, for example is the sound coming from the speakers or from inside the case? Is it steady and predictable or random? Do you know what MOBO (motherboard ) beeps sound like?

Ok - pop the CMOS battery out of the Motherboard (when the pc is off)

and wait 30 seconds - then reinsert it and boot the pc - do the beeps still remain

hi the beeping is defo coming from inside the case,it starts after the computer is on for a few minutes,its a succession of beeps sounds very much like a heart monitor,my girls think the fan is overheating but its going round okay, dont know any thing about motherboards,sorry:)

Find this on the MOBO, take the battery out and then replace it again after 30 seconds
