But at home, i dont have wifi anymore, i have a mobile broadband usb dongle, on 3. Id like to beable to use my ipod's net at home, so ive been trying to think of a way i could connect it. I thought of... My computer dosnt have a wireless card, but if i could get one, and configure it to 'share' my usb dongle's net connection.. and connect my ipod to the card.. Would i beable to do this ? Would it work ? Thanks.. Quote
maynardvdm Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi I know someone will correct me, but you will need a wireless access point (WAP) to connect all the devices. I dont think wireless devices can connect to each other without it. So you will need a Wireless Access Point(WAP). Quote We are all members helping other members. Tootech Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) Same thoughts as Maynard......... configure it to 'share' my usb dongle's net connection.. and connect my ipod to the card..I don't think it will work as a wireless PC card is a receiver not a transmitter. A wireless router does the job of transmitting (and receiving). Course someone may correct me on that :) Have you looked at wireless routers designed for USB dongles? Three do one - have a look here 3 - Mobile Broadband - Huawei D100 Router There's a few on ebay for about £65, its probably the simplest way of doing it. Edited March 30, 2009 by Tootech Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 There are some mobile phones that you can plug into say your laptop and then use the phones mobile broadband to access the internet on the lappy, but the phones are few and far between. As for your Ipod having the ability to do that, I doubt it very much Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
