Hi Gaz

from which site did you purchase Microsoft Office from?

and do you also get an error code? ie "error 1402 could not open key"

There is an article that I found on the Microsoft site that might be of relevance to your problem!!

Hi

I get the error messages as well if I don't do the following (Note: if you are not familiar with the registry find someone who is). Uninstall the old Office and reboot. Even if you have not installed Office still do the following (if you use PowerPoint Viewer you may have to reinstall it):

Start>Run. In the run box type "regedit" w/o quotes.

Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Expand Software

Expand Microsoft

Delete Office

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and perform the same actions

Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Expand Software

Expand Microsoft

Delete Office

Install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, see link.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Reboot the computer and open the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and look for MS Office products, if you find any remove them. You should be able to install MS Office now.
