RE: mapped drives disconnect and logon takes too long after router cha

It is possible you have not disabled the DHCP server which most modern

routers have built in for home networking.

In this case your workstations at power up will ask to renew their IP lease,

and the router will usually beat the DC to the punch.

Assuming your router worked straight out of the box, its default IP is in

your address space e.g. 192.168.1.1.

So it will give valid IP addresses, but will also confure the DNS server

address on the unlucky workstation.

Check this by doing ipconfig /all on a few workstations - the DHCP server

and DNS server addresses should both point to your DC.

On every workstation in the LAN.

If any are otherwise, disconnect router from the LAN and reconfigure it to

disable the rogue DHCP server.
