RandyL Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hi Goll; Can you please tell us exactly what flash drives you have tried? Make. model and number? Have you tried a different USB port? Have you looked in Device Manager for any problems with the Universal Serial Bus controllers? Quote We are all members helping other members. Goll Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 Oh i forgot and i have checked the device manager and it says that the prots and usb controllers are working fine, also i can use any other sort of usb device like printers it just seems to happen with the flash drives, i even bought a brand new one, that head not been used in any other machine to try with the same result Thanks Goll Quote
Tootech Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Couple of things come to mind. Do you have the XP Service Pack 3 installed? Also, what other USB devices do you have connected that work? I getting at printers, scanners, camera's, and perhaps powered/ unpowered external hard drives. Your USB flash drives draw current from the port to power them. Most of the devices I mentioned dont, they just use the data connections, so I'm wondering if you use any other devices that do draw power from the computer. Quote

Plastic Nev Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Hi, can you let us know some information about the PC itself, make, model etc. Also a stab in the dark here, do you know how to get to the BIOS? continuous tapping F2 is the usual one but may be different for your machine, if so, let us know what the settings are regarding boot order, don't as yet alter anything, and also let us know any settings regarding USB that there may be in there.
