I have a Dell Optiplex GX280, a week ago i downloaded and installed IE8 with security updates, when i restarted my pc after the installation i got a error message saying 'For your computer protection we have blocked your Registry Console Tool. I noticed that most of my services in services.msc had stopped and either gave me a error message saying:

'Could not start the ***** service on local computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start'

or:

Windows could not start the **** on Local Computer. For more information, review the Sytem Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor and refer to service-specific error code 2250.

When i go to system event log, it doesn't show anything and both errors and Microsoft services.

Also under network adapters in device manager i get warning signs next to all of these:

I can uninstall and re-install the Broadcom drivers but the rest are needed to 'boot up the system'. I cannot update them since i have no internet connection on the pc.

I'm on Microsoft Professional SP3

Anyone know what i can do?

My First suggestion is to do a system Restore to a date prior to installing IE8 to make sure this problem has been caused by installing IE8 in the first place.

How ever we have found that IE8 and XP have not worked well together untill some updates have been loaded as well, so I must ask did you just Download IE8 or did you Download IE 8 and then check for updates?
