RE: TS fine tuning

TS is fairly good to go out of the box, assuming the following:

1. Server Class Hardware w/ 2 Xeon CPUs, 4GB RAM, RAID1 or RAID10 Disk

Configuration, Battery Backed RAID Controller w/ Write Caching Enabled.

2. The file system is secured before installing applications.

3. Page file is set to equal, static max/min values

4. You have scheduled weekly defrags and reboots.

5. The TS does not do anything else, including file/print, SQL, Exchange,

Active Directory...

6. You use a TS Friendly Antivirus Scanner (Trend ServerProtect or NOD32),

with scanning of network drives disabled and local scanning set to scan on

modify, not scan on access.

7. You have enabled the Registry Setting for NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate

set to 1.

8. You manage profiles so logons take < 30 seconds, and closer to 5-10

seconds. This can be accomplished by using Mandatory Profiles, the Flex

Profile Kit from Login Consultants or a 3rd party program like SepageProfile.

9. You use a Universal Printer Driver like Provision Networks Print-IT,

ThinPrint .Print RDP Engine, UniPrint or triCerat Simplify Printing.
