Roland Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Oke i have done a new instal with win xp x64. Every time i reboot the pc, it takes 1 min to reboot. After one min the hard drive is going to load win xp. So it is a new installation with no spyware & virus. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Hello Roland Welcome to FPCH We don't quite understand what you mean here. Do you mean it actually takes 2 minutes to boot up? Quote
Roland Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 No it takes 1 min to reboot it hangs on win xp logo bar. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Have you tried booting into Safe Mode by pressing F8 on start up? Quote
Roland Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Yes i have done that to remove display drivers. Why? Quote
RandyL Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Hi roland; Have you installed this from a disk or reinstalled from the recovery partion? Is this a reinstallation of Windows XP 64 bit or are you trying to install a new or different version of XP? It would help if we knew the make, model and number of your PC such as HP Pavillion xxx as well as what your disks say. We need to know if it is a recovery disk or a full XP disk to isolate the issue. I assume this is the same disk that came with your computer. Is that correct? Roland Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Everything else is good when it starts. But just the boot screen xp logo bar stays there for 1 min then it's going to load xp. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Look Roland what the hell is going on here, you can't get the machine to boot properly never mind play a game. Will it boot to the Desktop when in Safe Mode? Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Are you saying it does boot ok but the logo takes a minute to disappear? Quote
RandyL Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Roland Does it boot at all because you said it won't get past the boot? How did you remove the drivers if it won't boot. We did not mention drivers you did. You built this machine correct? When? Recently? What exactly do you have for disks that you are trying to install from? Or have you actually achieved an install? Very confusing? Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Goku Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I am afraid to say that your hard disk might be dying Roland. Slow bootup is one of the symptoms of a failing hard drive. I recommend you to back up your important data as soon as possible and run a check disk on the drive to see if the bad sectors can be repaired or not. Sorry to be the bearer of this bad news. :( -- Goku Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 So lets get this right Roland ok, your saying everything boots up ok and you think the only problem is the logo takes 1 minute to disappear? Would that be about right? Quote
