IE7 Downloads painfully slow

I hardly ever use IE these days, mainly Firefox, but IE has to be dusted off on some occasions for certain sites.

 

I fired it up today as I was having some issues downloading some videos from www.stage6.com, IE loaded the page slowly, then when downloading the videos it is reporting that it is going to take 30mins to download a 130Mb file... now I realise these are Microsoft minutes, but that is ridiculous.

 

I don't have hte fastnet 'net connection (3mb), but Firefox was sucking these videos down in about 5-6mins each, even with 7 or 8 going on at the same time, I only had to wait 15 minutes or so.

 

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what would cause this?
