Plastic Nev Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Hi, and welcome Debs, It is obviously a second hand scanner, did the previous owner let you have any installation disks with it? Does it also show in "Add or remove hardware"? If so have you tried uninstalling everything of it and then try a reinstall, see if that works, just in case the first time round something got missed. RandyL Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Hi debs; It does appear to be a driver issue. As Plastic Nev said you could try reinstalling it. Before you do though look at the disks that came with it. Do they say they are for XP? This is a very old scanner and Memorex does not support it anymore. As near as I can tell it was only supported on Windows 3.x, 9x, & NT4.0. As far as you updating the drivers I know you didn't get the updates from Memorex. Third party drivers are not always reliable. Running a software program in compatability mode might work on some software programs but hardware devices like a scanner need to have the right drivers for the OS you actually have. I think this is a case of a very old scanner that was never meant to work on XP as there are no drivers for XP. Quote We are all members helping other members. BeeCeeBee Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Are you attempting to scan using supplied software? If so, you may want to see if you can access the the scanner through your Control Panel (Scanners and Cameras) it is possible that you may be able to use it from there. Despite having software it is the only way that I am able to use an older scanner in XP. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
