Having recently having virgin media installed i purchased their broadband and connected it all up fine.my pc has never bin connected to the internet before and i thought automatic updates would kick in,They did not so i attempted to do it all manually,i tried media player but it wouldn't connect,so i thought i'd try goin straight to the microsoft website but my browser won't even let me do that,I can go on any other site just fine but none to do with microsoft.

 

Please Help Because I'm Tearing what little hair i have out!!!

It would seem that you should not have picked up a virus or other malware since you have not been connected before but that may not be the case.

 

What, if any, security programs ( Anti virus, anti malware-spyware, firewall) have you installed on your machine?

 

Also, have you installed any programs that others may have downloaded from the internet and put onto discs or flash drives?

Thats the standard Windows Update link - it will only work using Internet Explorer.

 

If that doesn't work, try this one

Just how extensive has your browsing been and when you try to go to microsoft are you redirected to another site or does it just fail to open. The likelihood is that Tootech is correct but that also assumes a very minimal amount of browsing and no redirects.
