app installs on terminal server

Quick question! MS says that applications should be installed on the

terminal server. But some apps require small database files that get

installed locally on the TS. (which then opens the preverbial can of

worms regarding GPO's and permissions to write/modify data on the TS/

backups etc).

Some Apps suggest installing apps pointing to a mapped drive on the

FilePrint server (but isn't officially supported and is done at "your

own risk" ! ), which is contrary to MS position of installing apps

locally on TS.

So what is the best way to do this?

1) Install apps "locally" on the TS and try and point data files to

the FP server;

or

2) install apps FROM the TS directly to the FP server so that the app

and data are on the FP server?

Thanks to all. Great forum. Hopefully I will be knowledgeable enough

soon to contribute too!

I would not recommend allowing volatile data to be located on the TS, if at

all possible, so you don't have to make daily backups of your TS.

RE: app installs on terminal server

Install only the application on the TS, leave the data on the FP server.
