Guest Lincoln Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Hello all, We have a Windows 2003 Domain (non R2) with about 250 end users. The users all have roaming profiles. We use Group Policy to provide a consistent desktop accross all machines. Every once in a while we will have a random user who recieves an Active Desktop Recovery error and the wall paper we push is replaced with the white background and annoy text stating that there has been an Active Desktop Error. If you push the button to attempt to recover the desktop, you receive a scripting error. In the past, I would correct this by disabling the GPO, connect to the user's computer and delete the desktop.htt file from C:\documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\internet explorer folder. I would then delete the desktop.htt file from the same location in the copy of thier profile on the server. Have them log off and log back on and thier desktop would return to normal. I would then re-enable the desktop GPO and everything would be fine. I have one user where the above works until I re-enable the policy. If I re-enable the GPO, the next time she logs in she recieves the Active Desktop Recovery error again. I know this issue has something to do with the GPO we have in place, but am not sure what to do about it. Following are the settings in the GPO and the only event recieved in the application log on the problem machine: Computer Configuration (Disabled) No settings defined. User Configuration (Enabled) Administrative Templates Control Panel/Display Policy Setting Hide Desktop tab Enabled Hide Screen Saver tab Enabled Password protect the screen saver Enabled Prevent changing wallpaper Enabled Screen Saver Enabled Screen Saver executable name Enabled Screen Saver executable name logon.scr Screen Saver timeout Enabled Number of seconds to wait to enable the Screen Saver Seconds: 600 Desktop/Active Desktop Policy Setting Active Desktop Wallpaper Enabled Wallpaper Name: \\DFSName\dfs\common folders\common\aafcu_desktop.jpg Wallpaper Style: Center Policy Setting Enable Active Desktop Enabled Allows HTML and JPEG Wallpaper Event Type: Warning Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1525 Date: 12/10/2007 Time: 10:12:03 AM User: domain\rcook Computer: ONBASE2 Description: Windows has detected that Offline Caching is enabled on the Roaming Profile share - to avoid potential profile corruption, Offline Caching must be disabled on shares where roaming user profiles are stored. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks in Advance.
