Guest Steve Dowling Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I have an HP Proliant server running Windows 2003 Enterprise and SQL Server 2005 which is crashing occasionally and leaving no trace of the crash other than an event log entry saying that the previous system shutdown was unexpected. The only way I have found to trigger the crash is by running a full scandisk on the secondary partition which is a RAID 5 array made up of 4 300GB drives. This makes me think that it may be a problem with the SCSI controller but I'm not sure how to diagnose this. I've managed to run scandisk in DOS mode without any problems being found and the HP diagnostics tools report that there are no issues with the RAID array. Does anyone have any ideas? Regards, Steve
