Hi louis;

Did you mean to type BOOTMGR?

Oh yes you did.

It's in the title.

hi, wow quick response, no i dont have the vista installation disk, just one from alienware which is called the master cd. Another opton it gives me is to push F10 for alenrespawn V2.0 but it says it will restore it to factory settings, however i dont want to lose all of my stuff.

Ok you'll need to go in the BIOS and set to boot from CD/DVD

Then insert your Vista disk and start your pc

Click Next at the first prompt

Click on Repair your computer

The installation process will attempt to find your Vista installation directory. If there's more than one in the list, select the correct one and then use the Next button.

Click the first link for Startup Repair

The installation process will repair the system, and then prompt for you to reboot

Sorry did not see you posting.

Ok restore to factory you don't want coz that will wipe all your data.

Try what i said with the master CD, or try and boot from the master CD and tell us what it says.

it gave me the option of pressing f11 to go into the boot menu, it now says select boot device, SATA: PM-SAMSUNG HM1GHJI OR CD/DVD: SM-TSST corp CDDVDW SN-O OR Network: BO5 DOO Yukon PXE? which one should i select if any?

Ok

When you first start the pc look at the bottom to see which button to press to enter setup or BIOS usually its F2 or Del

In the BIOS look for Boot sequence or Boot order or something like that and put CD/DVD as the firts one and Hard drive as the second one and restart your computer with the CD in the drive.

it has now come up with the message windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: insert your windows ins disc and restart your comp or choose your lang settings and click next or click repair your comp. but i dont have this disc, i would have thought this info would be on the master cd?

Or if you can get the command prompt option, choose that and in the command prompt type bootrec /fixboot and press enter.
