chris lovett Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hi All, I have been putting up for sometime with an extremely noisy Fan. Expecting my computer to crash and die i have backed everything i need up. However it refuses to die. So i'm thinking that it may just be the fan being a pain. It seems to Speed up then slow down Speed up then slow down Speed up then slow down etc. Especially when playing games. I have left the cover off of the computer to check it's getting enough air flow and moved it out from under my desk. Anyone have any ideas. all help will be appreciated. Tootech Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Sounds like an old noisy fan. Replace it with something like an Arctic cooler and it will be sorted. Post your computer spec or make/model if you need one recommending :) Quote
starams5 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Hi Tootech, excellent choice (Arctic Freezer). I have one on my other build. Also, you didn't give your specs (Chris Lovett) but see if your motherboard has control of your fans. ASUS boards has what is called "Q-Fan". If so, disable in bios. Quote
zinglebarb Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 You do not say which fan is making the noise? you say its noticable in games? This could well be the gfx fan . What brand card is it? Perhaps google majorgeeks:everest and install the program and monitor your temps to see if anything is heating up causing the fan to spin up Quote Q9550 P5Q pro mobo 4 gig pc8500 ATI 4870 Scythe CPU cooler Vista X64 5 HDDs 3 optical OCZ modular psu
