Restoring Shadow Copies to a different server

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has previous experience with

this topic...

 

I'd like to restore Volume Shadow Copies (from a backup tape) to a

different Windows instance to that from which they originally came

from - in essence the physical server has had a Windows 2003 rebuild,

and I've been requested to restore some files from VSS data from the

old server, so that the data is available on the new instance.

 

I'm finding that this topic is not really covered in the existing

documentation, and wonder if anyone has successfully completed a

similar project before, and if so, how it was done.
