Guest dean.carrefour Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I'm trying to install the Exchange Server 2007 SP1. The docs say to prep the active directory prior to installation. I'm following this article for the ad prep: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224.aspx When I get to step #2 and run setup /ps from a command prompt, I get a small dialog from 'Windows Setup' that pops up and says "Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components." with only an OK button on it. Is that normal? If not, what am i doing wrong. I am just starting this process (SP1 install) and this is the very first step I've performed.

I just tried it and I get that same dialog telling me that I need to go into control panel and install/configure applications, even though I am running the setup from the SP1 download.
Guest Brian Desmond [MVP] Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Re: Question about setup /PrepareSchema - Preparing the Active Dir Re: Question about setup /PrepareSchema - Preparing the Active Dir No you shouldn't need to run it from within powershell. I am wondering however if your .net 3.0 install is out of order. The exception appears to be that some temporary code being generated on the fly is not compiling properly. -- Thanks, Brian Desmond Windows Server MVP - Directory Services http://www.briandesmond.com "dean.carrefour" <deancarrefour@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:22CB8708-7D50-432F-B64C-D758D740E5B6@microsoft.com... >> Are you running this on an x64 box with Powershell loaded? You can confirm this on Exchange ngs I saw an article explaining all of this 'prep' you do, just to upgrade from RTM to SP1, so that's what I was trying to do, guess I made it more difficult than it needed to be. I just dbl-clicked the setup.exe from the SP1 download and it ran. Had to install the SP1 for .net 2, but once that was corrected it installed without incident. Thanks for your help.
