Guest ZenMasta Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I had a question about remote desktop. I have been able to connect to my server win2003 with the same user up to 2 concurrent sessions. I don't need more then 2 sessions, but I wanted to know how to make a non admin user account so 2 people could connect to use a program? Unlike win xp there is not a user accounts item in control panel. I tried making a new user from computer management, and putting that user in the remote desktop users group but that didn't work. Thanks

Remotedesktop is only implemented as a remote administration solution for your servers. Which roles holds the related server btw.? Which kind of program you want the users to execute? Normal users must be granted additional permissions, i.e. logon locally on the server. Best greetings from Germany Olaf
Guest ZenMasta Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Re: users for remote desktop connections Well, quite honestly I'm not very familiar with this kind of stuff so I'm not sure what you mean about the roles. We use this server to host our website and database. I would want the users to login so they could connect to our ordering database and process shipments from their warehouse. I would prefer them to RDP into the server directly instead of our computers in the office which in turn connect to our server over the web. We're not really dealing with latency sensitive stuff but I don't want it to be that laggy. As mentioned, you'd need Terminal Services for this - and I would strongly discourage you from a) running TS on your webserver and b) letting anyone log into your webserver.I'd get another server to run W2003 and buy sufficient TS CALs for your purposes. Remote Desktop in W2000/2003 server is for admin use only - not for users/application access. > > > "Olaf Engelke [MVP Windows Server]" <oenews01@mvps.org> wrote in > message news:3A5CC8C6-8240-4348-88C6-CFC2BB8F51DD@microsoft.com... >> Hello, >> "ZenMasta" <me@nospam.com> schrieb im Newsbeitrag >> news:eev68ncPIHA.484@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >>> I had a question about remote desktop. Guest ZenMasta Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Re: users for remote desktop connections I'm just staging right now. When we go live, the website would definitely be on a different server. Thanks for the feed back. I'll look into those cals.
