kane Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Thanks Randyl. Could you please tell me how to get the list up as a screen shot, i know how to do a screen shot but not how to attach it. Do i email it to freepchelp? Quote
Goku Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Hello Kane. The answer to your attachment question lies here. The errors you get indeed appear to be the product of some past malware. Please post an exact screenshot of your startup list and I will give you the further instructions. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku Quote
kane Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Trojans and startup list Grrr 1 problem after another. Is there a way i can shrink the dimensions of the screen-shots? The Dimensions of the screen-shots of the Trojans and Startup list are 1024x768 and they are 2.25MB each. I have had a look but can't find an option for this. Thanks again for any help Quote
Tootech Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Kane, Try saving your screenshots as jpg files - they are much much smaller. Quote
kane Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Here should be a screen shot of the start up list. Thanks for that Tootec Quote
kane Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 I don't suppose there's a way i can change the sizes of the Trojan screen shots id taken before or would i have to do a rescan to get them again? Quote
Tootech Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 (edited) Open the file in Paint, then re save, but use Save As and change the file type to jpg. Like this Edited September 27, 2009 by Tootech Quote
kane Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Thanks Tootec, I just tried that and it blanked them out. I think i'll rescan and take new screen shots. Quote
Goku Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Hello Kane. Please open CCleaner, switch to the Startup tab and and delete the following entries: MyWebSearch Email Plugin cmgwu MyWebSearch Plugin MyWebSearch Bar MWSBar Next, follow the instructions for Unlocker and the Temp folder and restart your computer. Try to run the scans again. Is there an improvement? -- Goku Quote
kane Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 I done as u said Goku but still no change. Above is a screen shot of the error report i got when trying to open SUPERAntiSpyware and a screen shot of the startup page from Easy Cleaner. The ESET Online Scanner will still not start as Windows does not verify the publisher. Thanks for any more help Quote

RandyL Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 kane have you removed all the myweb etc crap from add/remove in the control panel first? There are many third party apps that could be reinfecting you. At some point it has to be asked if a reinstall might not be in your best interests after backing up your data. Especially if too much damage has been done even after a cleaning. Downloaded games, screensavers, P2P, torrent files, myweb, etc etc etc can cause a reinfection after a clean unless those are removed first. Uninstalling all third party programs before cleaning is often times needed. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Here are the screen shots of all the programs, is there any that you think could be suspect or could do without? Thanks Randyl Quote
Tootech Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Kane, Utorrent Ares Bitlord Limewire Pro These 4 programs are torrent programs, commonly, although not always used for downloading illegal music, video and programs. The Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help rules do state that we will not help with problems associated with torrents and p2p. Please uninstall all the above and My Web Search, and when you have, come back and confirm you have done so. Thanks. Quote
kane Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Avast virus chest I'v deleted the programs that you asked me to, i haven't used them in ages anyway. Im a bit confused, i scanned my comp again to get the Trojan's so i could take a screen shot but they did not come up again. Does this mean they are gone or saved safely in the chest? Sorry if this a dumb question. Thanks for any help. Quote
kane Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Do you want me to put up a screen shot to prove that iv deleted the programs? Thats not meant in a sarcastic way btw. Quote
Tootech Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Do you want me to put up a screen shot No, thats fine. You didn't manage to run Malwarebytes I believe. Create a folder in C:, call it malwarebytes, and copy the Malwarebytes exe file there. Rename it to m.exe. Attempt to install it again. If successful, update it, and run a full scan. Quote
kane Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 Thanks for everybody's help. I seemed to be going round in circles so i decided to reinstall windows, at least i know how to that now :) Quote
