Guest Scott Leff Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Hi all, I have a folder on a Win 2003 Server (NTFS volume) that I cannot gain access to. This folder has no security tab on it when I right click and go to properties. I cannot take ownership of it, and cannot force it to inherit permissions from above. I have tried using xcacls and subinacl as per the following KB articles with no success: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=320081 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265360 Running "xcacls [foldername]" results in an Access Denied message. I have also tried using fileacl (http://www.gbordier.com/gbtools/fileacl.htm) with no success. ANY help would be appreciated, as I have pretty much run out of ideas here.

I would reboot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD (http://www.bootdisk.com), then deal with the folder.
Guest Scott Leff Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Re: Cannot delete a folder Well, this is our main file server, so doing that's going to be difficult. I believe the folder was created using a Mac running OSX, but I can't use the Mac to delete it or anything like that. Therefore chkdsk /f and a reboot may help. If the folder is on a locked disk, this reboot will take longer and should take place in a time in which no users are accessing the server. Any entries in the event log, which may point to a disk error? Best greetings from Germany Olaf
