TechNet Eval 2003 R2...

Hi Fellas:

If I am using the media and license key from my TechNet subscription, is it

possible to upgrade the license to retail after-the-fact?

If it is, should I NOT do the product activation (with the TechNet key) at

all and just perform the activcation with the retail key when I get it or

should I activate with the TechNet key and then perform an in-place upgrade

when I get the new key?

Also, if I have to re-install when I receive a new key, what happens at the

service pack/hotfix level? Would I have to re-apply? Does it keep any

settings at all?

Thanks!

Most probably you will need to reinstall the hotfixes and service pack. For

other settings, it shuold retain.

Do you know if SQL would be the same?

We have to get a website ready on a very short timeline.

We have already sent out the PO's for the software but want to get it built

ASAP.

Thanks.

Re: TechNet Eval 2003 R2...

I haven't tried SQL Server personally, but a simple google leads me to:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281574

So upgrading to retail should be possible.
