kane Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I'v got quite an old pc, its a Compaq iPAQ with only 384 of Ram. Im thinking of buying some more to speed things up a little bit. I went to Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com to check my memory and was told i need SDRAM PC133 but would only be able to extend my RAM to 512. what would happen if i bought 1GB instead of 256mb? Guest Wolfeymole Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The board will only hold still for 512mb of RAM Kane, forget about a gig of memory. It sounds like you have 3 slots each containing a 128mb stick. Remove one of the 128 sticks and replace it with a 256 stick. Quote
kane Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Ok thanks for that. I'v got 2 slots, 1 with 128mb and the other with 256mb. Do you know a good but cheap site where i could purchase the 256mb RAM? What's the difference between Buffered & Unbuffered? Quote
Tootech Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Forget buffered RAM, it's for servers in general. If you want new try Cheap Laptops, Hard Drives, LCD Monitors, TVs and more at Ebuyer. Used memory goes for sensible money on ebay - just check out feedback of sellers first. Quote
kane Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Thanks Tootec I'll try Ebuyer and go for new. I had my computer open today to check how many slots i had as Wolfeymole thought that i might have 3 and so did a memory checker but the Crucial memory advisory tool said i had 2. I have got 2 so I'll get another 256Mb. Quote
