Server dies with large number of LUNs

Server is a Dell 6850 with 16Gb RAM running Win2003 x64 SP2, Emulex LPe11002

HBA with current storport driver. LUNs on an EMC CX380. If I only zone a

dozen LUNs to the server, then all is fine. However, if I zone 60 LUNs, then

a) server is very slow to boot, showing the splash screen for 15 minutes or

more before finally showing the GUI and login dialog, and b) Disk Management

on the server has gone gaga and although it sees all the LUNs, it will not

allow any of them, including local LUNs as well as those on the SAN, to be

either partitioned or formatted.

 

If I unzone the additional LUNs back down to a dozen or so then the problem

vanishes. I also tried a Dell 2950 running same OS and with a different

model Emulex HBA (LP1150), and the problem is exactly the same.
