Remote Control: Shadowing user sessions from helpdesk local machin

Greetings,

I work for a helpdesk that handles a large call volume of Terminal Server

(TS) issues. We have various offices around the globe. Each office houses 1

to 4 Terminal Servers. I was wondering: is it possible to remote control a TS

session from our client computers via the Terminal Server Manager without

having to login to the specific Terminal Server the user's on?

We have a Win2k3 environment and do have the option of TSWEB, which allows

us to remote control into any session in the particular server farm, but was

curious if there was a faster solution since we can launch the TSADMIN

locally to reset, disconnect, or log off users TS sessions.

Your expertise & assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Jesse

If the account under which you are logged on (or under which you

run TS Manager, if you use RunAs) has Remote Control rights on all

servers, you should be able to remote control all sessions from

within a single TS Manager console.

But you must start a TS session yourself, since you can only remote

control from one session to another.

Our helpdesk has a dedicated TS for this purpose, onto which all

helpdesk personnel logs in remotely.

Re: Remote Control: Shadowing user sessions from helpdesk local ma

Thank you Vera. You answered my question. I was under the impression that I

didn't need to start a TS session in order to connect to another session. I

was hoping that I could simply open up the TSADMIN from my machine, then

right click on a user's session and Remote Control it.

Thanks to you I discovered that we do have a dedicated TS that opens all

other TS sessions. It still requires me to login to the server, but atleast I

can see all other sessions and remote from there.

Cheers,

~Jesse
