Guest Andrew Fraser Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hi, For a few years I have been using SBS 2003 via Microsoft's Action pack however, my circumstances have now changed and I have purchased a retail copy of SBS 2003 and would like to change the product key I installed SBS under to my newly purchased key. I have seen numerious posts on changing product keys but none of them seem to work for SBS does anyone have any suggestions ? Best Regards Andy

Guest Andrew Fraser Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Re: Change Product Key Meinolf, Thanks for the two links. The first link to the MS software looked promising but does not run under SBS 2003. I had come across the second link before but had no luck following the instructions - I made the change to OOBETimer but running MSOOB still said that the product was licensed. -- Best Regards Andy Fraser "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello Andrew, > > Check out this one: > http://blogs.technet.com/backroom/archive/2006/09/28/459832.aspx > > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328874 > > Best regards > > Meinolf Weber > Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers > no rights. > ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups > ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm > > > Hi, > > > > For a few years I have been using SBS 2003 via Microsoft's Action pack > > however, my circumstances have now changed and I have purchased a > > retail copy of SBS 2003 and would like to change the product key I > > installed SBS under to my newly purchased key. That said, I'm not sure you can do this (or whether there's any reason you would ever need to) - if you have the valid license it should suffice. Your MAPS copy is NFR but is a full fledged version, as far as I'm aware.
Guest Andrew Fraser Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Re: Change Product Key Hi, Appologies for posting in the wrong newsgroup ! My concern is that Microsoft are now pushing license verification before service pack installs etc. and I am worried that my existing product key will show up as MAPS that is no longer under subscription. I was just hoping to save myself the work of a fresh install :-( -- Best Regards Andy Fraser "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: > Andrew Fraser <AndrewFraser@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > > > For a few years I have been using SBS 2003 via Microsoft's Action pack > > however, my circumstances have now changed and I have purchased a > > retail copy of SBS 2003 and would like to change the product key I > > installed SBS under to my newly purchased key. However, if you're really worried, call Microsoft licensing support. > > >> Andrew Fraser <AndrewFraser@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >>> Hi, >>> >>> For a few years I have been using SBS 2003 via Microsoft's Action >>> pack however, my circumstances have now changed and I have >>> purchased a retail copy of SBS 2003 and would like to change the >>> product key I installed SBS under to my newly purchased key. Guest Andrew Fraser Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Re: Change Product Key Thank you for the advice. As you say, if a problem crops up I can always call licensing support. Thanks again. -- Best Regards Andy Fraser "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: > Andrew Fraser <AndrewFraser@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > > > Appologies for posting in the wrong newsgroup ! > > No problem....just "for fugure reference." > > > > My concern is that Microsoft are now pushing license verification > > before service pack installs > > Not for SBS....Vista, perhaps, but not anything else that I know of. > > > etc. and I am worried that my existing > > product key will show up as MAPS that is no longer under > > subscription.
