Guest bill allemann Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Just started a new server with win2003 small biz, and am trying to connect to an older HP Jetdirect multiport print server. I normally have used HP's INPW (something? Network Printer Wizard, whatever) software in the past to create ports. INPW can't see the pserver, even though I can ping it OK. I've tried both specific IP and hardware addresses, no help. On the same LAN, the same software on a workstation PC with WinXP can find the pserver OK, and that PC has been printing thru the pserver for ome time. I don't have Windows Firewall enabled at all, and an older PC on the LAN can see a test file share on the new server. I remember that the internet access part of the initial load/config asked about inbound access from the internet, and I selected something to the effect of no inbound traffic. I believe that this screen said that it wasn't relevant to LAN traffic. Any ideas what might be blocking the HP software?

Guest Dennis R Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Re: problem connecting to print server - win2003 server Bill, I am trying to trouble shoot a problem where my XP computer finds the print server and the printer fine. But the Vista computer will find the server and printer and port, but will not connect. How did you solve your problem????
