Guest Just Guessing Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Is there a way to enlarge the system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server? I have heard that typical repartitioning software isn't recommended on a server. Has anyone ever done it? Or is there an acceptible way of doing it, short of reinstalling Windows? Thanks!

Guest WorkingHard Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Re: Enlarge system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server no diskpart magic on the system partition. take a verfied good backup of teh server, even an extra image of the disk for safety and than use the free tool gparted live cd (google it and read the manual) to extend the c partition cheers "Brett I. Guest Daveg Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Re: Enlarge system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server If you can leverage drive expansion from the hardware array to add capacity to c:, so that you will so the new free space as unallocated on the same disk that C: partition resides, diskpart may work. You cannot use diskpart when the OS, page file etc are in use however, you might try booting to WinPE 2.0 and then using diskpart to expand c: as it is no longer in use and should expand. daveg
Guest Nick Payne Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 RE: Enlarge system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server I have used the server edition of Paragon Partition Manager to expand system partition on Win2003 servers without any problem. http://www.partition-manager.com/ "Just Guessing" wrote: > Is there a way to enlarge the system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server? > I have heard that typical repartitioning software isn't recommended on a > server.
