brianL Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Hope someone can help, I had a power cut this afternoon and since then I get an error message that says "error 100c" contact HP for support. The PC is made by Compaq and the monitor is made by HP. It continues to loop around in this mode. Anyone now what error 100c is, monitor or PC? Quote
RandyL Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hi brian; What is the model and number of your Compaq? When and how often do you get this error? Are there any more details on the error? Plastic Nev Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hi Brian considering that the error code states to get in touch with HP, and your monitor is HP, I am pretty sure it is a monitor problem rather than the computer. However to be sure, do you have access to a different monitor to prove it? Without knowing exactly what that code number means, it may just be the monitor flagging up that there is no signal, or the wrong type of signal from the computer. Mains power failure can do some drastic damage, so I would recommend you buy a surge protector socket to go between the mains and the computer, once you have got to the bottom of this failure. johnfloyd1147 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) Error 100c fixed Hope someone can help, I had a power cut this afternoon and since then I get an error message that says "error 100c" contact HP for support. The PC is made by Compaq and the monitor is made by HP. It continues to loop around in this mode. Anyone now what error 100c is, monitor or PC? DON'T LISTEN TO HP They told me all i could do is a system recovery, but i fixed it myself. You need the disk that came with vista for start up repairs. insert that disk and restart your computer. when the disk loads it will have a screen for selecting language and keyboard layout click next. the next screen will ask you to select your operating system do this and click next. the next screen will have a list of things you can do, select the command line one. when the black box shows up it should say something like: X:> you want to change the X:> to your drive that windows is installed on mine is c: so when you enter your drive letter it should look like this X:>C: and then press enter. it should now look like this C:> there are two things you need to do now 1.) type bootrec /fixboot it should say operation completed succesfully 2.) type bootrec /fixmbr it should say operation completed succesfully after you do this remove your cd and restart the computer it should boot right up! Mine did after 3 days of trying everything else, im just glad i didn't do a complete recovery! to much important stuff in my pc to lose. HOPE THIS HELPS! Edited June 4, 2009 by johnfloyd1147 Quote
