Guest Nick Payne Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I've noticed that if I zone too many LUNs from a SAN to a Windows server, the server gets very slow to boot. It just sits at the Win2003 splash screen for 15 minutes or longer before progressing to eventually the login screen. Also, once a large number of disks have been zoned, disk management gets to the state where it does not allow any disks to be partitioned. I've tried with Dell 2950 and 6850 servers running Win2003 Enterprise x64 with SP2 and all current patches, and Emulex LPe11002 or LPe1105 HBAs with the current EMC driver from Emulex. SAN is an EMC CX380. If I zone only a dozen or so LUNs, then there is no problem - server boots normally and disks can be partitioned normally. However, if I zone a large number of LUNs - I zoned 60 as a test - then the problems I describe above happen. If I remove the extra LUNs then the problem disappears. Nick
